One year fresh with the drive for adventure when I was in my early 20's not only had I just got back from the Emerald Isle. It was many months of staying on organic farms and bio reserves fresh with out any snakes. My thirst for adventure and exp. was now craving tropical. I soon found the same way of cheap travel was through labor. Soon I found a farm on Maui and with out much thought made arrangements, bought a ticket , hammock, tent and a travel book then went. The hammock tent turned out to be a disaster. The farm I lived on was surrounded by jungle and its unfallable appetite ate and devoured all life around it. One day I accidently left a white shirt in the grass. 4 days latter I was pulling it out of the ground as it was quickly almost completely assimilated by the large starving grass. Starving because it grew so quickly and needed every last ounce of rain that constantly came and went. Soon dry was my craving. Fires, and dry air tight places felt logical. For as beautiful as it all was, and it was magical despite the constant rain!. It was extremely wet. When you live in a wet tent, it starts to get to you. Everything is damp, we all know fungus thrives in such places and on everything. That Island was beyond paradise the first time I went. Just arriving at the airport was an amazing exp. Birds flying in and out of a wide opened up airport, the sun was shinning with a back drop of a deep blue south pacific sky. Flowers bloomed, and the cool strong constant trafe wind breeze stifled and thwarted tropical heat. My farm manager picked me up from the Airport. The 45 minute ride mostly along the coast was magic. Every moment. I was so in love with the Island already. Windsurfers swarmed like bees on endless ocean waves to our at places to our left. As Emerald forests and green hills all around to our right as we headed east along the northern shore of Maui then up into the mist covered area known as Haiku.
It was on this island that all of Darwin's discoveries could be challenged. Or on these islands would be better spoken. From a theological stand point, Galapagos represented Hell and Hawaii represented Paradise. Being the same inquisitive and unassumingly aware person that I was, I observed and listened to people who where experts on the natural , original species and plants of Hawaii for the 6 months I was there. There where many seminars and many experts.
The one thing that struck me blind, was the fact that the original birds of the island nested on the ground. Doesn't that totally contradict all other places in the world 99%. Where else do birds do this besides Papa New Gene Hawaii and Galapagos? Where I ask. What lead to this adaptation? Well a complete lack of predators and a supporting food change. Hawaii was a rich natural paradise full of food for all animals that depend on vegetation and since there is and was abundance, there was no need for a Hell style cannbilistic island, where once you where stranded you are forced to kill or be killed.
On the other hand Galapagos Islands (Hell) you have no vegetation and many animals marooned there who in my opinion have to eek out a living. Nesting on the ground fully opened to predators. Animals are migratory just like most of man, they end up in the oddest of places. When introduced into new environments they can adapt (key word here) to almost any environment. When they had the misfortune of landing on Galapagos they where stuck to kill or be killed for its obvious they where to tired to fly back or to look for another place to live. Probably like most marooned life, not seeing the grande picture. Or just to tired to care. There fore the animals of Galapagos did not evolve they adapted, just as any man or women does when they move to a new environment. There is a finite limit orf adaptation but there is no real evidence in our written history of any major changes of men accept the ones we have been forced to believe. Those will all be debunked? latter in this book. Honestly, what has evolved since our written history? Have the Chinese recorded men having more hair, less upright? a strange idea to brush their teeth and take showers in the last 5k years? At what point did we start laughing? Did it just happen over night? Have you ever seen a primate laugh? Or any animal laugh. Laugh as a human does? Yet men waste tons of brain space, years of education and billions of dollars and a few mis shaped skeletal remains trying to prove what one man discovered on a Hellish starving island to be the soul cause of our exsistance and the soul cause of our life. How depressing. Worst of all how poorly educated we have become and what a silly excuse we use that to inflict damage onto the human and animal family.
Hawaii was far from Depressing. It was the Answer. It wasn't till many years latter that the many years of dissent and that island launched this very Theory. This very book/idea against one mans thought, against one mans reason on a small island chain lost at sea with poor lost birds and other animals constantly fighting and eating each other to survive. Where the birds of paradise had at one time no such problems.
